Ramy Romany

Ramy Romany is a world-renowned Egyptologist, bestselling author and an Emmy Award-winning director. Born into a family of documentarians in Egypt, he filmed, produced, directed and appeared in more than a hundred documentaries about Ancient Egypt before the age of twenty.

After leaving Egypt, he moved to Los Angeles, where he continues his passion for storytelling. He has won nine Emmy Awards, hosted archaeology series for Discovery, Travel and History, and directed major shows for ABC, FOX, HBO, Netflix and Amazon.

Fans remember him as Ewan McGregor’s guide through the pyramids of Giza in National Geographic’s Long Way Down, Joanna Lumley’s “dragoman” on her Nile journey for BBC, and Destination Truth’s “Egyptian heart-throb” for Syfy.

Discovery tapped into Ramy’s expansive knowledge as host of Mummies Unwrapped and Travel Channel’s Mummies Never Die.
